Check out this article on the new “experience agents.” They’ll fix you up with once in a lifetime experiences for a hefty fee. Some of my favorites include the Playboy Mansion Party for $3,900 per person (how’s that for a birthday gift) and the Fighter Pilot for a day ($1,195 per person).

Anyway you look at it though, holidays are becoming about experiences, not just about laying on a beach drinking a resort out of its margarita supply.

Rent Louis Vuitton and Gucci Handbags

I have to say that Bag Borrow or Steal is one of the better ideas I’ve seen in a while. The company rents out designer handbags for a monthly fee, $20/month for access to the “Trendsetter” line (think Dooney & Burke) all the way up to $175/month for the “Couture” line (think Gucci and Rosiblu). You have access to one bag at a time and when you get bored with it you get them to ship you a different one and return the old one.

Not only will this service keep your closet a lot cleaner, it can be an inexpensive way to look your best all the time. So the next time you’re looking at dropping a few thousand for a Fendi you’ll use for a few months, think about renting it.

The Best Cell Phones

You think this piece would start with the iPhone, but lets face it. It’s overdone. Everyone’s talking about it and yes it’s cool, but there’s still phones out there that are even crazier.

Check these phones out (but be warned the price tags rival some peoples cars and even houses).

The LG KE850 Prada cell phone by LG is astounding. It was the first touch screen phone on the market, is as sleek as the iPhone, but packs the punch of the Prada name. It’ll set you back $800, but your friends will go green right away.

The next eye catcher is the Serene by Samsung. I have no idea how you’re supposed to use it, but it was released in November and is reputed to be one of the slickest operating phones out there. You can pick it up for $1,275. Oh don’t worry the prices get worse.

The next two phones are from Vertu. If you haven’t heard of them, you don’t make enough money to buy one. They come with a “lifestyle” button that will instantly connect you with a conceirge anywhere in the world, 24 hours a day. You need a pizza, no problem. You like Italian pizza, they’ll book you a private plane to Italy. Seriously. The first phone has diamonds, sapphires and rubies and retails for $71,000. The second is the signature cobra. It boasts a pear-cut diamond, one round white diamone, two emerald eyes and over 400 rubies. Only 8 are being made so if you can justify spending $310,000 on a cell phone you’d better call quick.

Lamborghini Reventon

Only 20 of the Lamborghini Reventon will be made and they’ll set back the lucky buyers $1.4 million a piece. It has more carbon fiber than any other Lambo, in fact if it came with a cup holder I bet that would be made out of carbon fiber. Boasting 650 hp and a jet like cockpit to handle the speed it’s everything you’ve ever wanted. The three customizable LCD displays even have a 3D G-force indicator. I’m not sure who has time to look down when they’re travelling at 200mph, but apparently some people can.

Lenovo Thinkpad Reserve Edition – Gadget of the Week

Everybody knows that computers and cows go together like milk and cookies, so Lenovo went ahead and put together this piece of art: the Thinkpad Reserve Edition. Made for the executive on the go this model sports a 12.1″ screen, and an external antenna for the on-board wireless WAN adapter that will hook you up with the interweb wherever you have cell service. Impressively, and unlike other ultra-portables, the latest in Lenovo’s X61 lineup has the latest in Intel’s Core 2 Duo mobile processor family, 2GB of RAM, and enough juice to keep you running the entire overseas flight to Paris. Only being produced in limited quantities and wrapped in hand-stitched leather, this premium notebook carries a premium price at around $5000. More pics inside.

Weekly Gadget Feature: WinePod

I love wine, but I never thought of making it until I saw the WinePod. It’s designed for small lot artisan winemaking. The state of the art pod integrates fermentation, pressing and ageing in one elegant unit. Temperature control is handled with thermoelectric heating and cooling to ensure the perfect ageing. And the company will even source the grapes for you – it doesn’t get much easier than that.

Oh and the software will beam all of the info to your PC where you can watch your progress as an amateur winemaker. After winning a design award in 2006 the pod sold out and they’re now taking names for the 2007 waiting list. For $3,500 you can hopefully take one home and start impressing all your friends.

Ferrari 420 Dino

Set to be unveiled in 2009, the newest Ferrari Dino is a powerhouse. Boasting a front mounted V8, it will produce about 480bhp. Production is set at 3,500-5,000 per year and will cost you between £82,000 and £90,000. We’re still not sure if it will show up as a coupe-cabriolet with a folding hard top, or as a berlinetta hard-top. Either way this piece of heaven will let a few more lucky people feel the speed and luxury of a Ferrari, for a very inviting price.

Drive 10 Supercars for $4,000/year

I think fractional ownership is a great way to get a little bit of luxury in your life for a lot less. CLUBGT is a great way to get into 10 supercars, for less than the price of an average sedan. You buy points, just as you would in a timeshare, and these allow you to “rent” the cars. Weekends are more expensive than weekdays and the pricier rides cost more points per mile. They have the Ferrari 550 Maranello, Lamborghini Gallardo, Porsche 911 GT3, Ferrari F355 GTB (shown below) and several other high end luxury sports cars.

Although you won’t get too far for the basic points package you can still impress on an occasion or two and see what it’s like to lead the rich life.

The Ultimate Soak – A $20,000 Bathtub

Now if you’re like me a bath is not something done to get clean. It’s something that refreshes the soul. On my top 10 favorite things to do, sitting in the tub with a good book would be near the top. Now I’ve graduated from a normal tub to a soaker, but I started looking for the piece de resistance. The best there is. And the following two are my favorites.

The Luxor combines all that is good in life. It’s a two seater with headrests like a sports car, has an LCD plasma and more jets than Southwest Air. I could imagine spending a couple hours in here with a good book and a better companion. It goes for about $6,000. But even though this tub will allow you to watch Harry Potter vs. reading about him in the tub, I think there’s a better one…

The new Morphosis Alpha is the most beautiful bathtub in the world, although it possibly has the worst name. I mean it doesn’t change into anything (that I know of) so the morph part makes no sense and the Alpha part… well I guess that maybe makes sense. Anyways, it’s made by Jacuzzi, has a contoured backrest, inline heater and a sanitation system (just don’t get carried away) so you can sleep at night in it. It even has an Illumatherapy system and comes with 12 jets. But perhaps the best feature is the look. Elegant, comfortable and sleek. If you can afford the $20,000 to pick one of these up, congratulations, you’re about to be in heaven a little earlier.
