I’ve always been a bit of a gadget geek, and summer has officially arrived so I thought to myself “What goes together better than electronics and heat?”. Let’s do this NASA style…
5. Apple iPhone. Has one product ever received so much hype? Well, hype or no hype, this has great potential for all of us who like to carry both a phone and an iPod. Now you can tune into your stolen Carey Underwood mp3′s while Grandma yaps on the other line.
4. LG LN735 GPS Navigation System. This portable GPS device has a nice 3.5″ screen, auto-reroute, and TTS (text-to-speech). Best of all, it’s $150 cheaper than comparable models from Garmin. Never lose your car in a foreign city again!
3. Canon EOS Digital Rebel XTi. Try as I might, I can’t convince myself that there is a better camera out there for the money. This DSLR is smaller than the competition from Nikon and sits in that $1k sweet spot with an 18-55mm lens. This camera will do wonders for your vacation pics.
Hit the jump for my top 2 gadgets of the summer.
2. Wireless Routers. Huh? An entire category of generally unexciting products? That’s right, wireless routers. If you don’t have one yet, ditch the old Commodore 64 and get one! Along with a laptop, and pretty well every other gadget in this list, you can be connected without actually being connected. Spend Fridays working from home: on the deck out back, topless (you too, ladies), mojito in hand to make the most of your weekends.
1. Nintendo Wii. Screw the baseball diamond, I’m working on my long ball record for Wii Sports. This is great fun all day and keeps you and the drinking party active after the sun goes down. You can get one for your kids, and the wifey will be none the wiser.
